On April 10, the Secretary of the RA NA RPA Faction Gagik Melikyan had a working meeting with Marko Sosic, Programme Coordinator of Montenegro at The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) of the United Kingdom.

Within the framework of the cooperation and support of the programme Public Finance Management in the South Caucasus of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) (German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation) with the RA NA issues on strategy elaboration of the professional capacity building of the RA Parliament Budget Office were discussed.

Touching upon the functions of the NA Budget Office, Gagik Melikyan highlighted the provision of the annual report on the different spheres of economy, as well as the execution of the state budget, the provision of the brief certificates on the annual report of the activities of the Audit Chamber to the MPs made by the structure, the Standing Committees and the Factions.

It has been noted that the certificates give an opportunity to make a complete picture about the procedure of the state budget execution and other problems.

The Secretary of the NA RPA Faction also highlighted the cooperation between the Foundation and the Parliamentary Budget Office.

“Your exchange of experience will be a great support for making the activities of the NA Budget Office more active and effective,” Gagik Melikyan noted.

Presenting the activities of similar structures of a number of European countries, Marko Sosic noted that the analyses presented by the Budget Office should be accessible for everybody.

The Secretary of the NA RPA Faction also answered to numerous other questions and expressed hope that in the nearest future the RA Parliamentary Budget Office would become a structure in compliance with international standards.
